PHILOMATH - Philomath High exploded for 42 second-quarter points on Friday and crushed La Pine 63-33 in a nonleague football game at Clemens Field.
Namer Fahkoury rushed 15 times for 254 yards and scored five times and Joseph Harmon added 126 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries as the Warriors (3-5) ran wild behind an improving offensive line and steamrolled the visitors from the Sky-Em Conference.
"Our offensive line has done an amazing job, they are getting solid, and Namer had a good night," PHS coach Troy Muir said.
The Warriors also made a change at quarterback, giving freshman Derek Nash his first start. He completed 4 of 6 for 98 yards and a touchdown, without an interception.
"He came through with a couple good passes," Muir said. "He really helped us not be so one-dimensional."
Philomath scored five touchdowns in the final 4:31 of the second quarter, when it executed a successful onsides kick after one score to keep its defense off the field.
"We tried to stay on offense because that was our best defense at that point," Muir said.
Philomath returns to Val-Co League action at Newport on Friday.
