MONROE - Monroe High scored six runs in the bottom of the third to pull away for a 12-2 Mountain View Conference baseball win over Central Linn on Tuesday.
Andrew Murkin struck out eight and went 3-for-4 at the plate for Monroe (1-2, 1-0).
Adam Opoien tripled and went 2-for-3 and Colton Hartshorn went 3-for-4 with a double as the Dragons finished with 15 hits.
"Andrew threw well at times and I though we hit ball pretty well," Monroe coach Bill Crowson said.
Monroe travels to Oakridge today.

CV-CHS game postponed
Tuesday's Mid-Willamette Conference game between Corvallis and Crescent Valley was postponed due to wet field conditions.
The two teams will meet today at 4:30 p.m. at Taylor Field, and make up Tuesday's game at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at CV.
They will close the week with a 4:30 p.m. game at CV.
Boys tennis
Crescent Valley cruised to an 8-0 Mid-Willamette Conference boys tennis win over South Albany.
The Raiders didn't drop a set en route to the victory.
CV (1-0 MWC) is home against Woodburn on Thursday.

The Spartans could not overtake the Baumgartner brothers in the Mid-Willamette Conference loss.
Corvallis' Cody Levien and Clark Lawton kept it close with Matt and Mike Baumgartner at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but both fell.
Corvallis hosts Silverton on Thursday at Oregon State and the Corvallis Country Club.

ALBANY - Crescent Valley opened the Mid-Willamette Conference season with a 6-2 victory over South Albany.
The Raiders swept the doubles matches, while Allison Bostrom lost only one game in her 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
