THE DALLES - Cory England belted a solo homer in the ninth inning to help lift the Corvallis High baseball team to a 7-6 win over The Dalles-Wahtonka on Wednesday.

The Spartans won an earlier game, 9-4 over Glencoe.

England collected five hits in the two games with a homer, triple, two doubles and a single while driving in three runs.

The Spartans also received strong pitching. Corvallis hurlers allowed just 10 hits over 16 innings.

Jason Martin had a homer in each game and Chase Sanders and Aaron Corwin also went deep for the Spartans (4-1).

"Over the course of the 16 innings we got to play, a lot of different guys came through in specific situations," CHS coach Eric Dazey said. "We had lots of chances to execute."

The Spartans are home on Friday against Mt. View at 2 p.m.
