Quarterbacks: B+

Lyle Moevao has been efficient overall, and a good leader. He has improved weekly, but had a few hiccups. Depth is coming along as Sean Canfield gets healthy.

Running backs: A

Jacquizz Rodgers is the dependable workhorse the coaches look for, and leads the Pac-10 in rushing. Ryan McCants and Jeremy Francis have played well in their limited opportunities.

Wide receivers: A-

All three starters are active in the offense with Sammie Stroughter the deep threat, Shane Morales the possession guy and James Rodgers being used in the run and pass games.

Offensive line: A

The running game works because of the guys up front and Moevao usually has plenty of time. The impressive thing is three expected starters were replaced during training camp.

Defensive line: B-

It was a slow start with a poor run defense and no pass rush the first two games. The turnaround up front made a big difference for the entire defense and in results.

Linebackers: B-

They had a similar learning curves as the defensive lineman, and are picking up speed. Keaton Kristick is playing well, and Dwight Roberson getting more playing time helps.

Secondary: B

The safeties have played well with Greg Laybourn having a big season. The only breakdown came against Utah. The corners have mostly done well, and have showed their depth.

Special teams: C-

PK Justin Kahut went through a rough patch, P Johnny Hekker had a bad start and the coverage and returns teams were hit-and-miss. All areas are getting better.

Coaching: B

The goal was to start fast, so the loss to Stanford hurt and the team didn't show up at Penn State. The Beavers played well the last four games and upset No. 1 USC.
