KAHUKU, Hawaii - The Oregon State women's golf team finished in a tie for 17th place on Wednesday at the 18-team Turtle Bay College Invitational at the on the 6,361-yard Arnold Palmer Course. The tournament concluded OSU's fall season.

Lauren Archer fired a 1-over-par 73 and she shot a three-round total of 237 (83-81-73) for the tournament.

"Lauren had a really good day," coach Rise Lakowske said. "She finished the fall on a very difficult golf course on a positive note. She didn't strike the ball particularly well, but she did a great job of managing the course."

The Beavers shot rounds of 314, 313 and 321 for a tournament total 84-over 948. UC Davis won with an 868.

"This was a big disappointment. I realistically expected to finish in the top 10 here and we didn't," Lakowske said. "There needs to be some changes made in our approach and we're going to make them. This team is much more capable than this.

"We'll work hard on both the mental and physical parts of the game to improve through the winter. We're determined to be better when we start playing in the spring. We'll work hard to be more mentally tough and are determined not to let something like this happen again."

The Beavers will return to action Feb. 21-23 at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic at Kiawah Island, S.C.
