Football
Crescent Valley graduate Jon Dowd hauled in the game-winning touchdown pass last Saturday in Western Oregon's 17-16 victory over Humboldt State.
With WOU (1-1) trailing 13-10, Dowd pulled in Josh Riddell's 23-yard pass to put the Wolves ahead for good.
It was Dowd's first TD of the season. Dowd played mainly on special teams as a defensive back the previous two seasons.
The 5-foot-11 senior has seven catches for 72 yards this year.

Portland State junior quarterback Drew Hubel threw for four touchdowns last Saturday as the Vikings defeated Southern Oregon 34-10. Former Corvallis High teammate John Roy played in the game for the Raiders.
Hubel will lead the Vikings into Bozeman, Mont., on Saturday for their Big Sky Conference opener.
Cross country
University of Portland sophomore Sarah Auer finished ninth overall and fourth for the Pilots at the West Coast Preview at Pier Park in Portland on Sept. 11.
Auer, a CV graduate, finished the course in 23 minutes, 31 seconds to help Portland with the meet with 29 points.
Volleyball
Western Oregon senior Lisa Martini, a Philomath High alum, has 54 kills in 10 volleyball matches for the Wolves. A 5-11 middleblocker, Martini also has 12 assists, four service aces, 15 digs and 18 block assists.
Women's soccer
Southern Oregon freshman Renay Norman scored the game-winning goal as the Raiders defeated a ranked opponent on the road for the first time.
Norman's goal - the Philomath High graduate's first this season - gave SOU a 2-1 victory over No. 21 Rocky Mountain on Sept. 4. The score came in the 70th minute and was unassisted.

Western Oregon senior midfielder Jessica Hicks has one goal this season for the 1-3-2 Wolves.
A 20-game starter as a junior, the Crescent Valley alum has yet to start this season.
