Toni Doolen, an associate professor in the School of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Oregon State University, has been named a 2009 Fellow of the Society of Women Engineers.
The Society of Women Engineers was established in 1950 to help encourage women to pursue engineering careers. The organization has 17,000 members in the United States.
Doolen has been a member of the Society of Women Engineers for 20 years. She helped charter the Willamette Valley Professional Section in 1996 and served as its first president.
After earning her doctoral degree in industrial engineering from OSU in 2001, Doolen became an assistant professor. She was awarded tenure in 2007 and has been named OSU's Institute of Industrial Engineers Faculty of the Year four times.
