Three Corvallis teens, including two brothers, were arraigned Wednesday on felony robbery charges stemming from an Oct. 5 mugging. Grant Engelhart, 19, Andrew Engelhart, 18, and Evan Kossow, 19, of Corvallis, were arrested Tuesday on charges of second-degree robbery.

The Engelharts also have both been charged with attempted second-degree robbery.

The alleged victim, Curtis Wyse, told police that on Oct. 5 he received a phone call from a man who said he wanted to give Wyse some money he was owed. The two arranged to meet.

When Wyse arrived at the agreed-upon location, the caller who owed him money wasn't there. But according to police, two others - Grant Engelhart and Evan Kossow - were there. The three started talking, and a few minutes later, two other males showed up. One of the newcomers was Andrew Engelhart.

The men, who were described as appearing drunk, reportedly began to push and punch Wyse. They told him it was because he owed money for cocaine. At one point, someone took Wyse's wallet from his pocket. Wyse told police he is not involved with drugs, and he didn't owe anyone money.

The other man allegedly involved in the attack - and the man who made the original phone call - have not been arrested.

Wyse told police that he called one of his attackers the next day and asked him to return his wallet, which had his Social Security card in it. The man said he'd leave the wallet at a grocery store, which he did.

Police got a search warrant for 340 N.E. Cambridge Circle, where the Engelharts and Kossow were living, and found Wyse's Social Security number written on a piece of paper. Also found was a backpack that contained a pair of binoculars that matched the description of binoculars stolen from a vehicle in Corvallis on June 8.

The Engelharts are in Benton County jail on $175,000 bail. Kossow also is in Benton County jail, on $105,000 bail.

Kossow and Grant Engelhart already were facing felony robbery charges from an attempted mugging earlier this year.

In that case, a man said he was confronted by Engelhart and Kossow while he was riding his bike on July 24. Engelhart and Kossow demanded the man's money, but he didn't have any. They then reportedly told the man to give them his shoes. The man told them he would call the police and the two left, without shoes or money, but threatened to hurt the man's friend if he did call the police.

Engelhart and Kossow have been charged with second-degree robbery for the incident.

Grant and Andrew Engelhart also were arrested on charges of second-degree burglary and first-degree theft for a break-in at Tony's Smoke Shop that happened in February.

The Benton County District Attorney's office has not filed on those charges.
