A plan to connect a computer server to a new operating system for the Corvallis Police Department's records management system took a little bit longer than expected.
VisionAIR, in which reports are typed and retrieved, was periodically offline throughout the weekend. According to Lt. Jim Brewer, officers were able to type reports into a word processing system and then copy that information into the records system when it was functioning.
Police officials said the system was back on line some time Monday.
"That way they're still getting some work done," Brewer said. When the system was again functioning properly, officers were able to complete their reports.
The computer software system was installed in June 2001. The Benton County Sheriff's Office also uses the system. It has caused problems for records staff who say they can't work fast enough to keep up with the number of reports that need to be filed because of glitches with the program.
