In celebration of International Women's Day, Zonta International Club of Corvallis distributed yellow roses Friday to people throughout Benton and Linn counties in recognition of their work to improve the lives of those with disabilities.

Club members presented roses to individuals as well as organizations. Recipients were recognized for activities ranging from working with guide dogs to volunteering with Special Olympics to setting up group homes.

Each year, Zonta celebrates International Women's Day by delivering a yellow rose to residents who have made the difference in the lives of others. Last year, Zonta honored community members for their work with people from other countries.

Those honored this year were nominated by community members involved with programs serving people with disabilities. The honorees are just a few of many local residents and organizations working in these efforts, the group said in a news release.
