ALBANY - Albany police are investigating an armed robbery that took place Friday morning at a coffee stand on Pacific Boulevard.
Detective Sgt. Brad Liles gave this account:
A female employee had been working alone this morning at the Pacific Perk in the Browsers’ Bookstore parking lot — 1425 Pacific Blvd. S.E. — when a man in a gray sweatshirt approached the stand on foot, showed her a black handgun and demanded cash.
She gave the man some money and he made off on foot, headed north on Pine Street. The amount was not disclosed.
The employee, who is 23 years old, then called the shop’s owner, who called police at about 9:10 a.m. this morning.
Police were searching nearby businesses and dwellings this morning. An officer was dusting for prints at the stand’s window.
Based on the victim's account, Liles said the robber is white, about 5-foot-10, with a medium to muscular build. He was unshaven and looked between 30 and 40 years old.
No one was hurt.
Linda Spencer was working at Browsers’ Bookstore when the robbery happened.
“We didn’t see or hear anything,” she said. “I wish we had.”
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Albany Police Department at (541) 917-7680.
