A 51-year-old Alsea woman and an 80-year-old Corvallis man were killed Saturday in separate car crashes near Lebanon and Corvallis.

The Alsea woman, Lorie Lyne Spinney, died early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle collision near Denny School Road just outside of Lebanon.

According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, here is what happened:

Leon Erwin Wendt, 52, of Alsea was driving west just after 1:30 a.m. on Oak Street toward Denny School Road in a gray 1987 Mazda RX7. His passenger, Spinney, was seated in the right front seat. Both were wearing seat belts.

Wendt failed to stop at the stop sign on Oak Street at Denny School Road, and the Mazda collided with a white 2006 Subaru Legacy being driven by Kasey Carlson, 27, of Mercer Island, Wash.

Carlson's wife, Lauren Carlson, 24, was seated in the right front seat. Both were wearing seat belts.

The Mazda came to a rest on its passenger side in a ditch along the west side of Denny School Road. The Subaru came to a rest on its roof in a grassy field.

Wendt, the driver of the Mazda, was not injured. Spinney died at the scene from injuries she sustained during the crash.

Lauren Carlson suffered a broken arm. Kasey Carlson was not injured. Both were transported to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.

Later Saturday morning, Dale D. Schrock of Corvallis was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 99W about one mile north of Corvallis.

Oregon State Police troopers are investigating the possibility that he had a medical problem that caused him to drive off the highway.

At about 6 a.m., Schrock was northbound near milepost 89 when his vehicle left the roadway and rolled over into a ditch, according to OSP Sgt. Craig Flierl.

Schrock was pronounced dead at the scene.

OSP troopers from the Albany Area Command office are continuing the investigation. The Benton County Sheriff's Office and Corvallis Fire Department assisted.
