Activities kick off today

A culinary exploration of Southeast Asia and a screening of the award-winning documentary, "War/Dance," are among the events set for Oregon State University's observance of International Education Week, which begins today.

The week's activities begin with an African rhythm circle at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the West Dining Hall on campus.

The Voices Project documentary film, "The World in OSU," features international students sharing their stories of attending OSU and living in Corvallis.

It begins at noon Tuesday in the Memorial Union Journey Room. The film is part of a series produced by the OSU Office of Community and Diversity.

"Taste of Southeast Asia: a Journey through Culture and Cuisine" invites the community to experience regional culture through food and music. It begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday in West Dining Hall.

Tickets cost $7 and are available for purchase in advance at any campus dining center or at the door.

The event is sponsored by University Housing and Dining Services and International Students of Oregon State University.

Thursday, the University Housing and Dining Services will host a free screening of "War/Dance," the award-winning 2007 documentary about children from war-torn northern Uganda competing in the national music competition. It begins at 7 p.m. Thursday in the LaSells Stewart Center Construction and Engineering Hall.

All week, workshops will be offered to promote international programs and resources at OSU, including study abroad, international internships and student scholarships.
