CORVALLIS - Boo the villain, cheer the hero! Corvallis Community Theatre's 41st season continues March 7 with a modern musical adaptation of a classic American melodrama, "The Drunkard."

The play is set for eight performances March 7 through 16 at the Majestic Theatre, 115 S.W. Second St. Performances are at 8 p.m. March 7, 8, 13 (sold out), 14, and 15; and 2:30 p.m. March 9, 15 and 16. Tickets prices are $10 for adults and $7 seniors (age 65 and older) and students (under age 18). Recommended for ages 10 and older. Reserved seat tickets are available at Grass Roots Books & Music. For credit card orders, call ValleyTix 758-9393 ($1.50 service charge); phone-order tickets and remaining seats will be available at Majestic Theatre box office one hour before each performance.

The whole family can get caught up in this zany, fast-paced romp through the melodramatic mode of yesteryear. Audience participation is encouraged - boo and hiss the villain, cheer the hero and experience edge-of-the-seat thrills, authentic sets, period costumes, exciting dance numbers and vaudeville-style olios between acts. Pop icon Barry Manilow has infused the play with infectious melodies and lyrics in the British music-hall style. The play is recommended for ages 10 and older.

Director Wolfgang Dengler ("Anything Goes," "Wizard of Oz") presents Rebecca Warner as Mary the Heroine, Relan Colley as the Villain Cribbs, Jon Seitz as Edward the Hero. Also: Doug Crotty, Ann Megowan, Karyl Carlson, Mary Santelmann. Maja Birdwell, and Megan King appear in character roles. Singers and dancers are Rhonda Lockhart, Natali De Assis, Susie Blair, Vicki Wills, Bob Ulrich, Pat Megowan, Joe Majeski, Jay Thompson, Dan Malcolm, Sabrina Messenger, Brenna Crotty, Emily Plotkin, Charlene Ulrich, Danni Simon, Sala Wodtke and Michael Crotty.
