CORVALLIS - Anjelica Selden struck out eight and walked two while pitching a three-hitter on Saturday as No. 3 UCLA put an end to Oregon State’s season with a 5-1 Pacific-10 Conference victory at the OSU Softball Complex.
The Bruins (45-7, 17-4) got three hits and two RBIs from first baseman GiOnna DiSalvatore, while Katie Schroeder and Amanda Kamekona both had two hits. All three players hit a double off OSU sophomore Kelly Dyer (19-25).
Schroeder scored twice.
The Beavers (28-31, 6-15) trailed 2-0 before scoring their run in the bottom of the third.
Junior shortstop Paige Lowe singled in Alana Ford.
UCLA pushed the lead back to two in the top of the fourth.
OSU threatened in the bottom of the inning as senior second baseman Cambria Miranda walked, stole second and reached third on a deep fly to center. Miranda got no further.
UCLA scored twice in the top of the sixth.
Dyer had two strikeouts and three walks in the complete-game effort. She finished the season with an ERA of 2.72.
Miranda was the only senior on the roster for OSU, which could return as many as 15 players, including redshirt freshman pitcher Karmen Holladay.
OSU will miss the NCAA tournament for the first time in 10 years after finishing the season with a losing record.
