Oregon State wide receiver Sammie Stroughter, linebacker Derrick Doggett and place-kicker Alexis Serna were named the Pacific-10 Conference football Players of the Week on Monday.
All of them played key roles in Oregon State’s 27-17 upset road victory at Washington on Saturday.
Stroughter, a junior from Roseville, Calif., had seven receptions for a career-high 223 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown reception for the winning score.
The 223 receiving yards is the top performance in the Pac-10 this season and the fourth-highest in OSU history. The 80-yard reception is the longest pass play in the conference this year.
Doggett, a junior from San Diego, had a team-high 10 tackles, eight solo, including two tackles for loss, a quarterback sack and forced a fumble.
Serna, a junior from Fontana, Calif., and last year’s Lou Groza Award winner, was 2-for-2 in field goal and hit his three extra points.
That gave him a career total of 221 points, an OSU record for a kicker. The three extra points also extended his consecutive streak to 80, which ties the OSU record.
It’s only the third time players from the same team have swept all three player of the weekly honors with the most recent involving the Beavers. Quarterback Derek Anderson, defensive end Bill Swancutt and Serna won after a Civil War win against Oregon on Nov. 20, 2004.
